Patient Story:
Harshitha, d/o Basavaraju, fourteen year old girl, an active and smart child, had been the hope of her parents. Her father is vegetable vender and mother, a garment worker in Bangalore. Life was smooth and simple for the family until last year, when it turned upside down for her parents as the child was suddenly diagnosed with Hodkinson’s Lymphoma, stage IV. They geared up hope & faith and got her treated at Kidwai Memorial Cancer Institute, Bangalore. After 6 chemos, she received assistance from ‘Belagu foundation’ to undergo PET scan, to review her condition.
Unfortunately, her PET scan in April 2018 shows residual disease in her body. Now, Bone Marrow transplantation is the only hope for her complete recovery. It was complete darkness for her parents, when they learnt that they have to spend ten to fifteen lakhs to save the life of their beloved daughter. With the help of ‘Belagu foundation’, which is exploring all possible ways to save the life of the child, Harshitha is now admitted at St.John’s hospital, Bangalore for further treatment and Bone Marrow Transplantation under Dr Vandana and Dr Tarangini, Paeditric oncologists. Her complete treatment requires ten to twelve lakhs and the family totally depends on social support to continue treatment.
Hope is a ray of light in complete darkness. Our hopes are on the willful generosity of compassionate hearts.
