Udaya Kumar, a resident from Jalsoor, Sullia Taluk, Dakshin Kannada district, works in a petrol pump and is the sole bread earner of his family. He lives with his aged father and mother. His life was thrown upside down when he met with an accident on 13th of January, 2021. He was on his bike with his father and while coming back home from work his bike slipped, dragged him for quite a distance, and damaged his leg.
He was ferried by the government Ambulance 108 in Puttur from the accident spot. He was taken from the town government hospital to Mahaveer Medical Centre General Hospital where he has been admitted. While there is some movement in his toes, Uday Kumar probably will lose the leg, as his nerves and bones are hurt/impacted.
The bills at the hospital have already touched Rs 50,000 and the family has no financial support. Considering he must be in the hospital for a while, this expense for his treatment will be a huge amount. Being the bread winner for the family, his medical condition is putting severe stress on his family.
