Helped 8 Year Old Shivraj Fight Cancer

Patient Story:

Shivaraj s/o Manjula, Chelageri, Rona taluk, Gadag district is an eight years old boy, suffering from Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was initially treated at Kidwai hospital for two years and is now at St.John’s Medical College Hospirtal, Bangalore.

His father refused to take any responsibility of the child’s treatment and was not interested in pursuing the treatment. His mother, Manjula, who was also working as an agricultural laborer had to leave her first daughter in Morarji Desai Boarding school and come to Bangalore for treatment for her son in 2016. Since then, child has received chemotherapy under Dr Appaji, at Kidwai hospital. But the disease had turned refractory to treatment and no further treatment could be provided at Kidwai and he was suggested Bone Marrow Transplantation as the only choice to save his life.

Manjula has been supported by Sanman foundation ever since she came to Bangalore for treatment. She was also provided assistance by Belagu foundation, Bangalore for PET Scan. Now both the organizations together are supporting her stay in Bangalore and treatment at St John’s Medical College Hospital, Bangalore.

His initial Salvage chemotherapy treatment under Dr Vandana, Oncologist, St John’s hospital, Bangalore for two cycles of chemo has also given only marginal response. She has now prescribed chemo with a more potent drug to treat the refractory case of lymphoma using ‘Brentuximab Vedotin’. This drug has to be imported and costs about Rs 3.3 lakhs for two vials. His complete treatment depends on how he responds to this treatment and present requirement of about Rs 3.5 to 4.0 lakhs has to be met immediately.

How Right to Live is Helping:

As per our background verification, Shivraj’s parents are economically poor, and cannot afford the cost of his treatment. We, at Right to Live, are trying to do our bit by raising funds for his treatment. We request you to come forward and support Shivraj for his treatment.

Please remember that 100% of your donation goes to the Shivraj’s treatment. We don’t use any part of donations for admin expenses, since those costs are covered by trustees. The payment is only ever released to hospitals and not placed in patients’ hands.
