Vasantha Kumar is a 51-year-old farmer from Puttur in Dakshin Kannada district. He is married and is the sole wage earner for his family. He used to work as an agricultural laborer with a small land before he was diagnosed with renal failure.
Vasantha Kumar’s illness started with a recurring high fever. He consulted a local doctor who referred him to a hospital in Mangalore for treatment where he was diagnosed with renal failure. Later he was referred to KMC Hospital Mangalore, for further treatment, dialysis and Kidney Transplant.
Doctors suggested that he needs to get his Kidney’s replaced or dialysis in order for him to lead a normal life. His parents have decided to donate their Kidney to him but the cost of operation for such a transplant is Rs.3,75,000.
