Open Doors to Rural Karnataka — Education, Livelihood and Mobility
In rural communities, progress is often slowed not by lack of effort — but by lack of access.
A student may be capable and motivated, yet lose valuable learning time walking several kilometres to school each day. A trained woman may possess tailoring skills, yet remain dependent because she does not own a sewing machine. An engineering student may earn admission to college, yet struggle to continue due to a modest financial shortfall.
These are not large barriers in monetary terms — but they are decisive barriers in life.
"Access, when provided at the right time, changes the direction of a life."
This campaign seeks your support to remove those barriers. Through structured, verified interventions, Right to Live is committed to strengthening three essential pathways across rural Karnataka — access to school, access to livelihood, and access to higher education.
Access to Education Through Safe Mobility
Many students in government schools across rural Karnataka travel long distances each day to attend classes. During summer heat and monsoon months, this journey becomes physically demanding and sometimes unsafe, leading to irregular attendance and increased dropout risk.
Right to Live aims to provide bicycles to students from low-income families, with beneficiaries identified through structured school verification processes. A bicycle reduces commute time and physical strain, improves attendance, and enables students to engage more consistently in their academic journey.
Access to Livelihood Through Skill and Asset Support
Women from economically vulnerable households undergo structured tailoring training at our Sphurti Skill Development Centre, Humnabad, Bidar. Upon successful completion, each selected beneficiary is provided a sewing machine to begin income-generating work from home or within her local community.
When a trained woman gains access to her own machine, she is able to earn independently, strengthen her household income, and move towards long-term financial stability.
Access to Higher Education Through Scholarships
Right to Live has supported higher education since 2012, assisting first-generation learners pursuing engineering and professional degrees across rural Karnataka. Students are selected through a rigorous, verified process to ensure support reaches those with genuine need and demonstrated commitment.
Timely scholarship assistance ensures continuity in professional education, reduces financial stress on families, and strengthens long-term economic mobility for entire communities.
