Education is one of the most powerful forces for social change. It opens doors to opportunity, empowers individuals to build dignified livelihoods, and enables communities to break the cycle of poverty. 

Yet for many talented students from economically disadvantaged families, the journey of education is often interrupted by financial hardship. A lack of resources — not a lack of ability — forces many promising students to give up their dreams. 

The Right To Live Educational Scholarship Program, established in 2012, was created to ensure that deserving students are able to continue their education despite financial challenges. Through this initiative, students from underprivileged backgrounds receive scholarships that support essential education expenses such as tuition fees, books, and examination costs. 

Students are selected through a rigorous verification process to ensure that scholarships reach those who genuinely need support and have the commitment to pursue their education seriously. 

Each year, scholarships are awarded around September 5th — Teachers’ Day, in remembrance of late Shri Kote Vasanthakumar, whose legacy continues to inspire our mission of expanding access to education. 

Over the years, this program has enabled hundreds of students to pursue higher education and build meaningful careers. 

Program Impact 

In 2025, Right To Live's scholarship program received 268 applications, and 209 deserving students were supported through scholarships with a total disbursement of INR 30,43,326. 

Many of these students are first-generation learners whose families depend on agriculture, daily wage work, or small livelihoods. With financial support at the right time, these students are able to remain focused on their education and build a better future for themselves and their families. 

Education scholarship enables bright students from low-income families to go to college, complete their degree, and gain confidence and skills needed to build a stable livelihood. It empowers families, strengthens communities, and contributes to long-term social progress.
