Vidya M. Bhat is a 51-year-old woman from an agricultural family in rural Karnataka. A wife and mother of three daughters, she has spent her life holding her family together with quiet strength. Today, her family is holding her — as she faces one of the hardest battles of her life.

In October 2025, during a routine check-up, an ultrasound revealed three large masses in the abdominal region. A biopsy suggested a possible colon origin. A PET scan was conducted to assess the spread of the disease. A colonoscopy followed — and found no tumour in the colon. NGS analysis identified an 18% p53 mutation in the sample. After months of exhaustive investigation, the conclusion was metastatic adenocarcinoma of unknown primary origin — an advanced cancer with no identifiable starting point.

Treatment began in November 2025. Vidya is currently undergoing FOLFOX chemotherapy — a demanding treatment protocol administered three times a month, which her doctors have indicated may continue through August 2026.

The Family Behind Her

Vidya's husband, Mahabaleshwara Bhat, comes from an agricultural background. The family's annual income is approximately INR 3-4 lakhs — sufficient for a modest, stable life, but not equipped to absorb the sustained cost of cancer treatment.

Their eldest daughter, Deepthi, has stepped away from full-time employment to be present for her mother through this period. Their second daughter, Deeksha, is pursuing a PhD at IARI, Delhi. Their youngest, Deepika, is in her final year of B.Arch. Two daughters are still building their futures. One has set hers aside, for now, to be home.

What Has Already Been Spent

The family carried health insurance with a sum assured of INR 2,00,000. That has been fully utilised. An additional INR 2,00,000 has already been spent out of pocket — on chemotherapy cycles, emergency admissions for post-chemotherapy complications, and the diagnostic tests required to confirm the nature and stage of Vidya's condition.

The family has given everything they had. The treatment is not over.

What Lies Ahead

Each chemotherapy cycle costs approximately INR15,000. With three sessions per month and treatment continuing potentially through August 2026, the family is looking at a sustained financial commitment they cannot bear alone.

This campaign seeks to raise INR 5,00,000 to support Vidya's ongoing chemotherapy and associated medical costs — so that her family's focus can remain where it must: on her recovery.

How You Can Help

A contribution of any amount will go directly towards Vidya's treatment costs with no deductions like Payment Gateway Charges & Admin Expenses. There is no small gift when it comes to helping a mother, a wife, and a woman of quiet courage stay in the fight.

Please help Vidya come home to her three daughters who are waiting.

Every rupee brings her one step closer to the other side of this.
