The infrastructural development of government schools in Karnataka has been receiving much attention over recent years. However, despite the large-scale efforts, a lot more requires to be done.
As per a report dated 2019, 889 government schools across Karnataka were assessed and the survey revealed that most of those schools are lacking in the basic infrastructural facilities as per the RTE (Right to Education) norms and standards. These are namely lack of benches and classroom furniture including boards, uniforms and bags for students along with inadequate toilet facilities, especially for girls.
Thus, the need of the hour is to take sincere efforts to provide a conducive environment that would motivate these children to attend government schools. This will also ensure that the fundamental Right to Education is realized in its true sense and will bridge the gap in infrastructure between the government and private schools.
Looking at the concerns flagged by the schools, Right to Live in association with other corporate organizations is working towards this cause by providing essential infrastructure development support. Right To Live has supported to improve classroom furniture including 200+ desk benches and 25+ green boards. Around 2500+ school bags as well as learning materials have been given to government schools. Proper sanitation facilities are enabled by constructing separate toilets for boys and girls on the campus of 10+ government schools. Book libraries have been set up at 5 schools to address the problem pertaining to the lack of academic resources.
Right to Live has been actively involved in addressing infrastructure issue through multiple projects over 100 government schools in Karnataka. We need your support in supporting more schools.
Education and access to a decent standard of living is the right of every child in this country. Right to Live urges one and all to come forward and contribute as we try to make a difference by making the basic infrastructural resources available to the government schools of Karnataka.
